Introducing Oakglen Wealth – Investment Management

Oakglen Wealth is part of the Oakglen Group, a group of investment and operating companies with interests across the UK, Channel Islands, Europe and North America in the real estate, private equity and financial services sector.

In financial services, Oakglen Wealth is focused on wealth management and investment services. Oakglen Wealth is based in Jersey and the United Kingdom, specialising in the provision of discretionary and advisory services predominantly to wealthy private clients and their families.

In administration services, Oakbridge specialises in providing secretarial, governance, general administration and accounting services to corporate and fund clients usually with interests in the real estate and technology sectors respectively.

In real estate, group subsidiary LBS Properties specialises in delivering high-quality, large scale, complex residential and office projects both independently and on a joint venture basis. LBS works across the full development lifecycle from deal sourcing, structuring and financing, planning, development, asset management and sales and leasing. LBS has been responsible for the delivery of over 1,300 private and affordable homes and 400,000 square feet of office space since 2012, and is currently working with both private and institutional capital partners from Europe, Asia and North America.

In private equity, Oakglen Group invests growth capital, with a current focus on financial technology and operational real estate, including via its wholly-owned Technology and Innovation Fund. The investee companies tend to have originated in the UK and have growth aspirations into Europe and particularly North America. Oakglen Group typically takes majority or significant minority shareholdings and remains closely involved in assisting and mentoring the investee founders and managers.

“I am pleased to introduce Oakglen Wealth as the new portfolio managers for the Nexus Portfolios. This is the result of the Nexus Board listening to your comments and then conducting reviews of potential managers. Oakglen Wealth’s investment philosophy and performance record together with the wealth of experience and expertise of the individuals and their understanding of the Nexus Portfolio’s requirements led to their appointment over very strong competition. I look forward to us working with Oakglen Wealth and the continued progression of the Nexus Portfolios to provide a first-class solution to our client’s needs.”
John Westwood
Group Chairman of the Blacktower Group

The blending document has been revisited following the appointment of Oakglen Wealth to manage the Libero International Portfolios and with the introduction of the Nexus Cautious Portfolio to the range.

The Oakglen investment style differs to the previous managers by holding fewer positions and taking a more dynamic approach to asset allocation, with a focus on managing downside investment risk.

The suggested Libero International Portfolio asset allocations in this document are based on the Blacktower Financial Management Group risk profiling questionnaire and have been mapped on the levels of potential drawdown.

There are some changes within the Cautious Portfolio, mapping directly to the Cautious risk profile. For Balanced, the Nexus Solutions portfolio is now topped up with a position in Nexus Dynamic. The return to a normalisation of interest rates has resulted in meaningful returns from fixed interest, so the level of potential volatility has reduced for the Nexus Solutions Portfolio. The addition of some Nexus Dynamic provides the opportunity for a more growth-orientated Balanced solution. This allows advisers to finesse the risk appetite for their clients.

The Growth risk profile is a 50/50 mix of Nexus Dynamic and Nexus Solutions and for those clients looking for all out Global Growth investment, a 100% allocation to Nexus Dynamic, which is a focused Global Equity Portfolio with capital appreciation as its investment objective.

“It may be a truism, but the expression ‘don’t put all your eggs in one basket’ is fundamental to a successful investment strategy, whatever your goals.”
Contract renewals were often late and typically failed to include price escalation.
